The International Women's Day Women of Achievement Award Dinner is an important event in the calendar of activities under the Department of Education and Training's Women in Leadership strategy.
Strategic Leadership for Women Program Scholarships
As part of the Women in Leadership Strategy, the Department is making 10 scholarships available to interested women who are currently part of a management team but who are not in senior management to attend a leadership professional learning program. This program is Strategic Leadership for Women conducted by Project U which will be run in Perth on 20 – 22 June 2007. For more information, click here
International Women's Day Women of Achievement Award Dinner
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Professor Lyn Beazley has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the dinner. Appointed in 2007 as the Chief Scientist of Western Australia, Professor Beazley’s passion and achievements provide a perfect opportunity to showcase science within an education context.

School Registrar wins Woman of Achievement Award 2007
Janine Nairn was announced as the winner of the 2007 Woman of Achievement Award on International Women’s Day 8th March. This is first award for the year and Janine is the first non-teaching employee of the Department of Education and Training to win.
Women in Leadership Program wins National AHRI award
At the Human Resources Week dinner, held on 4 September, the WiL program was announced as the state winner in its category and progressed to the national level.
On Thursday 5 October, at the AHRI dinner in Sydney, the Women in Leadership program was announced as the national winner in its category.
Executive Women Leading Women - Case Sketches
The Executive Women Leading Women project was conducted by nine women directors in the Western Australian Department of Education and Training (DET) from October 2005 to April 2006. It comprised the executive tier of the DET Women in Leadership (WiL) program and was designed and facilitated in conjunction with the WA Centre for Research for Women, then at Curtin University of Technology, under the direction of Dr Susan Hall. Each participant was provided with the services of a recorder/researcher supplied by WACRW.
The Executive Women Leading Women project produced innovations that focus on leadership for cultural change, with outcomes that make positive impacts in leadership for women on the culture of the Department and on portfolios of the Directors in the project. Women of Achievement - Eileen Hull & Lorraine Hams
The final Women of Achievement Dinner for 2006 was held on 26 Septemberr at the University Club of Western Australia.
Women of Achievement awards were presented to Eileen Hull, Manager Career Development Services, and Lorraine Hams, Principal Cyril Jackson Senior Campus.The guest speaker was Tracey Hodgkins, 2005 Telstra WA Business Woman of the Year. Woman of Achievement - Marie Donovan
The second Women of Achievement Dinner for 2006 was held on 13 June at the Fremantle Sailing Club. It was another very successful event and included guest speaker solicitor/barrister Gningala Yarran-Clanton and Gioia delle Donne Italian women's choir. Thank you to all those who attended and congratulations to Marie Donovan, Principal Consultant Speech and Learning, who was the recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award.
