About WiL

The WiL virtual learning community website is an initiative of the Women in Leadership Strategy of Department of Education and Training, Western Australia. The WiL website provides an online environment to bring together a professional learning community to support this work.

The WiL Strategy consists of three programs of work: Catalyst, Promoting Women in Leadership and Leading Women.  The Strategy aims to improve the representation of women in leadership positions by:

• developing a culture that ensures both women and men share responsibility for the promotion of women in the organisation
• building women’s knowledge of, and confidence in, their leadership and management capabilities
• ensuring that women in the organisation have access to high quality professional learning related to career and leadership development
• supporting women in currently in leadership positions
• effectively communicating the Department’s commitment to, and the importance of, women as leaders in Education and Training.

The work of the WiL strategy is informed by the Department’s Women in Leadership Reference Group.
