Janine Nairn was announced as the winner of the 2007 Woman of Achievement Award on International Women’s Day 8th March. This is first award for the year and Janine is the first  non-teaching employee of the Department of Education and Training to win.

The Women of Achievement Award is an initiative of the Department’s Women in Leadership strategy. The Award recognises women currently working for the Department who demonstrate outstanding leadership and contribute to education or training throughout their careers. The Award is presented three times a year.

The Hon Minister for Education and Training, Mark McGowan presented the award to Janine in front of a sell-out crowd on Thursday night at the Rydges Hotel. Guests included A/Director General Sharyn O’Neill, Executive Director Curriculum Standards Chris Cook, Director Inclusive Education Kerry Usher & District Director West Coast Lesley Street.

Guest Speakers for the night were Sarina Jan and Marion Faulker.

As registrar at Lynwood SHS, Janine enhanced the school’s capacity to provide high quality teaching and learning through her outstanding support of teachers and administration. She recognises that the efficient management of school cost centres depends on workable procedures and strategic management enabling middle managers in the school to focus on curriculum delivery.
Janine’s outstanding leadership and passion for professional development are known and respected State wide through her personal commitment to sharing her strategies for high quality service with other schools and their staff members.
She demonstrates extensive knowledge of current practices within her field so that the school benefits from new trends and plans for future growth and development.
One of her many passions is to improve the image of public schooling using Lynwood SHS as a starting point. Her work with the school’s promotions committee and clever management of limited resources has significantly contributed towards an amazing transformation of the school profile.
