8th March 07 - Challenges of Leadership

To celebrate International Women's Day the Women in Leadership Program of DET held the first of three Women of Achievement Dinners for 2007.

Guests included A/Director General Sharyn O’Neill, Executive Director Curriculum Standards Chris Cook, Director Inclusive Education Kerry Usher & District Director West Coast Lesley Street. Guest Speakers for the night were Sarina Jan and Marion Faulker.

School Registrar Janine Nairn from Lynwood SHS was presented with the Woman of Achievement Award by the Hon Minister for Education, Mark McGowan for her outstanding leadership and support of teachers and adminstration.

Sarina Jan gave a very honest and informative account of her life as an aboriginal woman in society today and the challenges she faces as a leader.

Marion Faulker engaged the audience with her personal story of challenges and victory to ascend to a position as a respected leader in her field.
