Promoting Women in Leadership

by brendanu last modified 18 August 2005, 02.44PM

The Promoting Women in Leadership Professional Learning Program is the signature program for WiL. It provides culturally-specific professional learning to develop the experience and expertise of women with high potential as educational leaders, particularly aspirants to the roles of school Principalship and Public Service positions at Level 8 and above.

It is expected that women who engage with this program will:

  • improve their confidence
  • affirm their leadership achievement
  • raise their profile and potential within the system
  • further develop effective networking opportunities and skills
  • improve access to information about career development
  • enhance their strategic directions, thinking skills and opportunities
  • grow as leaders in their current workplace
  • improve their confidence to seek access to promotional and other decision-making positions (eg, acting positions, places on committees and special projects, taking on secondments, becoming mentors to other staff).

Places in the 2005 program are available to permanent Departmental employees who are substantive or acting Public Servants Level 6 – 8; Education Officers Levels 1 and 2, Classroom Teachers, Program/Curriculum Coordinators, Heads of Department/Teachers in Charge, Deputy Principals and Principals. Eligibility categories for future programs will be reviewed as part of the evaluation of the project.

Places in the program are limited and are filled by an application process at an advertised time each year.
