Workshops
The key part of the program consists of four experiential workshops totalling eight days spaced over six months. Participants explore issues around leadership and workplace culture and engage in a series of leadership skills development sessions.
The workshop elements of the program are facilitated by Organisational and Staff Development Services of the University of Western Australia and Maggie Cox and Associates. The facilitators employ a theoretical framework based on the work of the Centre for Gender in Organisations, Simmons Graduate School of Management, Boston. Throughout the workshops, participants examine gender differences in leadership and leadership styles and their impact on others. Organisations are looked at through a ‘gender lens’ thereby developing an understanding of the ‘cultural literacy’ of the workplace and its impact on staff.
The workshops value the development of knowledge and skills to enable participants to act strategically, manage organisational politics, communicate and influence more effectively in order to enable them to reach their potential. Emphasis is placed on the importance of clarifying career goals and developing a personal and professional development plan.
